Your personal info is a key, not a flyer.
Think of your personal information like your locker combination. You wouldn't write it on the bathroom wall or shout it in a crowded cafeteria. The same rule applies online.
What is PII?
Personally Identifiable Information, or PII
Any information that identifies you: your name, email, school, phone number, address, photos, or even links that trace back to you.
Why keep PII off the internet
It can be used to find or impersonate you
A small detail can be enough for someone to figure out where you go to school, who your friends are, or how to pretend to be you.
Once it's out, you can't take it back
Public posts, DMs, and group chats can be screenshotted, forwarded, or archived. The internet has a long memory.
High Risk: Identity exposure
